Event Information:

This webinar will focus on the economic growth unlocked through the arrival of HS2 to cities and regions across the UK.

HS2 will bring transformational growth to the UK – and with the Government’s backing it is now gaining momentum once again.

This webinar will hear about some of that infrastructure investment – with the likes of Midlands Connect and Transport for West Midlands sharing intel on the multi-billion pound projects which centre around the investment into HS2 and the additional capacity this will provide to expand the metro and more regional West-East connectivity. We’ll also hear from Urban Growth Company on the mass of investment it will drive into Solihull.

Speakers for this event include:

  • Urban Growth Company – the Interchange at Solihull is the first location outside of London that HS2 will hit, and a new transport hub is planned that will be the centre of connectivity of all forms such as train, cycle, car, plane. UGC is a perfect example of how HS2 is driving investment and transformational development and we’ll hear about the plans for the wider area.
  • Midlands Connect – looking to benefit from the connectivity HS2 will bring is Midlands Connect who’ve proposed a £3.5bn Midlands Engine infrastructure plan. Integrated into HS2 this could be a catalyst for regen across numerous towns and cities across the region and they’ll share details on where the scheme is up to.
  • Transport for West Midlands – with a number of new train stations planned, a metro system to rival any in the UK proposed, and a number of large scale regeneration programmes being unlocked by infrastructure the organisation is leading the way. They’ll discuss their development programme, and how HS2 is enabling wider growth in cities and towns up and down the West Midlands.
  • Skanska – Adam is the Director of Environment at Skanska and is also a member of the Construction Leadership Council’s Green Construction Board. He is the lead for Skanska UK’s Net-Zero by 2045 carbon emissions target, which also includes responsibility for the emissions of their supply chain.
  • Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP – have played a big part in shaping the HS2 proposals in the West Midlands and Katie will act as the voice of the private sector on this panel. As one of the contributors to the GBS strategic economic growth plan, Katie will be on hand to talk about how HS2 will unlock further opportunities for blue chip companies and inward investment.
