Event Information:

This session will look at Central Government as a client – and the collaborative ways of working with the private sector.

Is the UK’s Government a good client? Do they attract the best that the private sector has to offer and engender a working relationship that benefits all parties? Are we making the most of the Government’s property portfolio and could we do more? In an open and honest webinar we have invited experts from both sides to share their thoughts on what is working well and what needs to change.

Speakers for this event include:

  • LocatED – is the government-owned property company, responsible for buying and developing sites for new schools in England. It is one of the largest purchasers of land in the UK and has a multidisciplinary team with specialist skills and extensive property sector experience. LocatED operates at pace in a highly competitive market, working directly with landowners, agents and developers nationally. Alex works within the acquisitions team and will talk about their current programme of work and in the context of collaboration will clarify what they are looking for from the private sector.
  • Restoration & Renewal of the Palace of Westminster – Liz has held many significant roles during her career with the MOD, BPF and more recently as Chair of the Government Property Agency and the Mayor of London’s Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. She will share her views on collaboration best practice across a wide range of sectors and will also provide an insight into the Palace of Westminster project.
  • One Public Estate – OPE is a pioneering initiative delivered in partnership by the OGP and the Local Government.  It provides practical and technical support and funding to  councils to deliver ambitious property- focused programmes in collaboration with Central government and other public sector partners.
  • Ministry of Justice – Sue will provide an update on MOJ’s Estate – up to 10 new prisons amid £2.5bn investment and discuss why collaboration and a close effective working relationship with the private sector is key to their delivery.
