Sheffield Business Park Expansion Rotherham Boeing Council Black Decker ITM Power SIG

Plans for a major expansion of one of Yorkshire’s leading business parks have been submitted. The plans, to grow Sheffield Business Park, could deliver a huge boost for employment and jobs within the region, as investment into South Yorkshire continues to grow.

Sheffield Business Park, who’re set to attend the Sheffield Development Plans Conference next week, are looking to create more than 1,000 new jobs through the expansion – which will transform the 18-acres of derelict land between Europa Link and the A630 dual carriageway in Rotherham – creating an exceptional gateway to the wider Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District which houses some of the UK’s biggest blue chip firms.

The plans for ‘Phase 4’ of the Sheffield Business Park scheme are now in the hands of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council – who’ll be represented at the Sheffield Development Plans Conference by their Chief Executive Sharon Kemp.

The masterplan proposes facilities and buildings including:

  • Building footprints between 10,764 sq ft – 107,649 sq ft
  • B1b – Research and Development
  • B1c – Industrial Process
  • B2 – General Industrial
  • B8 – Storage and Distribution

It’s likely that the exceptional range of businesses already occupying Sheffield Business Park will only further increase the desire for businesses to invest and work within the are – with others including:

  • University of Sheffield (Factory 2050)
  • Boeing
  • Black and Decker
  • SIG
  • ITM Power

Graham Sadler, Managing Director of Sheffield Business Park who is set to attend the Sheffield Development Plans Conference next week, said: “Geographically located at the centre of the UK, Sheffield City Region has been at the heart of manufacturing and engineering innovation since the industrial revolution and is now renowned for its lead of advanced manufacturing, research and development, attracting OEM manufactures such as Boeing, Rolls Royce and McLaren Automotive to the area. Phase 4 is at a nucleus of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District and provides a great opportunity to create a natural gateway between Rotherham and Sheffield as well as driving forward the vision of supporting the prosperity of the region’s economy and positioning South Yorkshire as leading the way in Advanced Manufacturing.”
