One of the largest brownfield sites within England is set for a transformational scheme led by the York Central Partnership. The collaborative group, made up of Homes England, Network Rail, National Railway Museum and the City of York Council, are driving forward plans to regenerate a 45 hectare area of York – the most ambitious development in the historic city since the Victorian era.

York Central Partnership, who’ll be speaking at our York Development Plans Conference in January, are working with a team to create an ambitious masterplan for the site with initial ideas outlining:

  • 2,500 new homes
  • 100,000 sq m of office, leisure, cultural and retail space
  • Creation of a new park
  • New ‘Urban Core’ created close to the Railway Station
  • New neighbourhoods

The development would be a major boost for housing and employment within the North Yorkshire region.
A spokesperson for York Central Partnership: ”The site has the potential to create 6.500 new jobs for the city. We’ve worked with our long term commercial advisors as well as partners including Make it York and the Local Enterprise Partnerships to understand the demand and develop the proposals.”

We’re excited to hear more about the huge project at our York Development Plans Conference in January. You can register for the event here.
