Future Development Plans – East of England; Sponsored by BDB Pitmans

Friday, 5th February 2021 1015hrs – 1245hrs

This virtual event will take a look at ongoing and future development and regeneration projects shaping the future vision for the East of England.

Towns and cities in the East of England are home to some of the most exciting and large scale regeneration initiatives in the UK.

Strategically located in close proximity to London and major infrastructure hubs and airports, the region is seeing an unprecedented level of growth with new towns set to be developed, thriving technology, innovation and education sectors which are retaining talent and boosting inward investment, and game-changing schemes being brought forward on levels never seen before.

Come and hear from some of those at the forefront of this transformational growth and discover how your organisation can be involved.

  • All Parliamentary Group for the East of England – As Member of Parliament for Cambridge since 2015, Daniel has spent much of his parliamentary life promoting and campaigning for extra investment and regeneration support for the East of England. As Co-Chair of the APPG, he has the inside track of government priorities for the region and will be talking about some of the priorities of his group in 2021.
  • South Cambridgeshire District Council – A recent report showed that a minimum of 2,000 new homes are needed in the Greater Cambridge area every year, a number that will only rise as new jobs continue to be created. Cllr Bridget Smith will discuss the councils strategy for achieving this ambitious target, and how they will prioritise sustainable and environmentally conscious development at the same time.
  • The Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor – The Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor is one of Europe’s most exciting growth opportunities. Home to the people and businesses tackling the grand challenges facing humanity and shaping the future of food, energy, medicine and mobility. Linking  two of the UK’s fastest-growing cities and world-leading research centres in Norwich and Cambridge, the Tech Corridor connects a network of development clusters and communities into a truly unique knowledge ecosystem. Linn will talk about how her organisation will be at the forefront of regeneration in the coming decade.
  • BDB Pitmans – Based in the firm’s Cambridge office, Katy specialises in real estate development and has worked on residential schemes across East Anglia, London and the South East.  She advises developers on a wide variety of schemes, including large mixed use developments, extra care developments and zero carbon affordable housing.
  • First Base – With the exciting news of a major £155m mixed use scheme in the centre of Cambridge, First Base are going to play a major part in transforming Cambridge in the coming years. Doug joins this session to talk about details of the scheme, timelines and how it will unlock further investment and development for the city.
