Future Development Plans – Barking & Dagenham; Sponsored by K&L Gates

This event will highlight future development and investment opportunities in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

With plans to build more than 50,000 new homes and create 20,000 new jobs, Barking and Dagenham is one of the most active development hubs in the South East. This event will explore forthcoming major regeneration projects that are set to spring up on the 400 hectares of available land across the borough.

This event will run in a similar manner to all of our physical events – with short presentations from several key speakers and opportunities for live Q&A and interaction.

  • London Borough of Barking & Dagenham – The main champion behind the Barking and Dagenham Growth strategy, Darren will go into detail as to why creating sustainable, inclusive communities is at the heart of his priorities over the next three years. He will also talk about the exciting vision for Dagenham Food Market and the wider Dagenham Docks renewal and how the council’s development strategy is ‘moving London East’.
  • BeFirst – With the aim to develop 50,000 new homes and 20,000 new jobs via regeneration in the next 20 years, Caroline is at the forefront of a development revolution within the borough. Sites expected to be brought forward in 2021 include Linton Road car park which will see 400 new homes in high rise buildings, 526 flats built to new environmental and energy standards alongside a new park, London’s largest new film studios and the next phases of development of the Gascoigne Estate.
  • K&L Gates – Joanna has extensive experience as the lead real estate lawyer advising on the structuring of both investment and development projects for local authorities, and increasing their provision of affordable rented homes using a variety of funding methods including income strip sales to third party funds.
  • Inland Homes – Inland Homes are one of the most respected house builders in the South East with major projects supporting the housing ambitions of several local authorities coming to the fore in 2021. They are seen as key to supporting the large scale housing plans across Barking and Dagenham and Mike will join this session to talk about their schemes and how Inland contribute to the various placemaking initiatives on the borough.
