Conference Overview

The Northern Powerhouse continues to be the dominant brand in the continuing discussions around devolution and there is no doubt that all the northern cities have benefitted from the influence that it is having on UK Government.

In its own right the North East is enjoying some real momentum at the present time and as a result there are new development and investment opportunities coming to light every day. Placemaking remains very high on the agenda for all parties and the private and public-sector partnerships are working well together. The region has never worked so well together.

Since devolution became the buzz word in the UK regions local councils have been far more proactive in terms of securing inward investment, government funding and setting out a development plan for their cities and towns. The North East is no exception. Building on the discussions that we had at our last event in September we have a panel ready for you that will provide you with some useful market data, development intelligence, visibility on key procurement opportunities and an insight into the region’s investment potential.

Helen Golightly is the Executive Director from the North East LEP who will provide an update on devolution, inward investment and how her team are successfully securing funding from UK Government.

Graeme Mason is the Planning & Corporate Affairs Director at Newcastle Airport; there are significant developments underway at the airport which Graeme will talk to us about

Tom Warburton is the Director of Place at Newcastle City Council with lots to share about the City’s plans for 2018 and beyond.

Mark Robinson is the Director responsible for the North East at Kier Property. The property arm of Kier is a prolific developer across the UK and with a strong track record in the North East. Mark will bring us up to date with their development plans

By the time we get to Feb 1st we will already have a feel for the year ahead so what better time to take stock of the political situation and find out where we are with regards to Brexit etc and the North East will already have embraced the energy of the start of the new year and will definitely be open for business.
