Huge international manufacturers Boeing and McLaren are set to be a huge game-changer for ongoing development in the Sheffield region – as the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) is seeing increased interest from potential developers. Speaking at the Sheffield Development Plans Conference on Thursday Edward Highfield, Director of City Growth at Sheffield Council, said that businesses were ‘lining-up’ and that the ‘investment pipeline is probably the healthiest it’s ever been’. He outlined a number of investments in the area, including PCM opening it’s headquarters at the Advanced Manufacturing Park, with SkyBet and Jet2 also creating jobs recently in the city. He said: ”The game changes have been McLaren and Boeing. Developers are now calling us and saying they have heard about their investment to the region and want to come and take a look.”

There are also huge ambitions from Meadowhall – as they look to overtake the Trafford Centre as the must visit shopping centre in the North. But Edward Highfield highlighted the he’d rather not look at Meadowhall as competition, although they are in the process of building an alternative offering including the ongoing development of The Moor.

We’ve got several events coming up in the region including the Yorkshire Universities Development Plans conference – view all of our events here.
