Event Information:

This webinar will focus on the huge impact Covid-19 will have on the working landscape.

With eight million UK workers staying away from the office amid the lockdown, the very notion of the workplace has been shaken to its core.

This webinar will explore what this could mean for future commercial building design and development, and what will need to be done to make employees feel safe in their workplaces again. Developers will discuss how they’re already changing their future development plans through a series of short presentations before we enter an audience led Q&A session.

Speakers for this event include:

  • HFD Property Group – the firm has already reacted to the post Covid-19 world by changing internal designs for their project in Scotland where they’re developing Glasgow’s largest office development. They’ll share details on this and how they’re also set to look at future projects in a similar light.
  • Smartspaces – are a market leading smart technology platform for commercial real estate focused on enhancing occupier safety and engagement.  Dan will discuss how commercial property must be adapted so that it is suitable for what will come to be known as the new normal, and how we must look beyond the immediate situation ensure the future fitness and safety of our buildings.
  • British Council for Offices – Neil is Chair of the British Council for Offices Technical committee as well as being Head of Design, Innovation and Property Solutions at Landsec. The BCO Technical Committee have been carrying out research into how commercial property can be safely operated in a post Covid-19 world and what can be done to allow office working to safely resume. Neil will provide some thought leadership on the adaptions that can be made to reduce virus transmission, accommodate our new reality and enable workers to gain the benefits of working in an office while ensuring they stay safe.
  • BizSpace – are a leading provider of flexible workspace in the UK, with over 6 million sq ft of office space operated across 105 locations and plans to expand further. Many of their offices are in out of town and regional settings, allowing them to provide a service to those who don’t want to work from home, but don’t feel safe travelling to city centres to work. Emma will discuss how they have adapted to keep their sites open through the current period and how the efforts they have made to keep their occupiers safe.
  • International WELL Building Institute – The IWBI administer the WELL Building Standard, a leading global rating standard focused on the ways that buildings and everything in them can improve comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance rather than compromise health and wellness. The standard is applied to over 587 million square feet of commercial property in 67 countries, and the IWBI is involved in 4,327 projects worldwide. They have set up a task force on Covid-19 which produced a new health-safety rating to enable buildings to become a tool in the fight to protect and improve public health, and reduces the spread of infection.
