This webinar will focus on the development activity in Carlisle and Cumbria, whilst also addressing some of the key issues and challenges which we as an industry face in the coming months. Speakers will be invited to share details on their current development programme and future pipelines as well as providing advice and opinion on what the industry needs to do to survive the current crisis, what is requires in the short term and how we will manage the increased demand and activity once the UK recovers.

Speakers for this event include:

• Carlisle City Council – Carlisle is offering a range of exciting development opportunities as it positions itself as the gateway to Scotland. In particular, the city will be home to the UK’s largest garden village- St Cuthbert’s which will see the creation of 10,000 new homes and a host of large community facilities in the next 10 years. Jane will set the scene for which sites the council will be bringing forward for development while giving an insight on their private sector collaboration ambition.

• Cumbria LEP – At the helm of the Cumbria LEP, Jo is overseeing over £60m of private sector investment into the region between 2019 and 2021. At the forefront of their ambition is to attract major developers and blue chip companies into their town’s and cities and work with the local authorities to enable major regeneration schemes to begin.

• Sellafield – As the clean-up and development of Sellafield accelerates, Rebecca will be on hand to talk about the progress in the project and the long term ambitions for the site.

• Story Developments – Specialising in the development of infrastructure related projects and a passionate advocate for Cumbria,Story are in the midst of £30m worth of development projects. Emma is also Chair of the Construction Sector Panel for Cumbria LEP and will bring a wealth of knowledge about the market to the discussion.

• Winander Group – Nigel is one of Cumbria’s most eminent business people and responsible for a number of the region’s major tourist attractions in particular across the Lake District. With the region relying heavily on tourism and being home to some of the best luxury retreats in Europe, Nigel will be in a position to talk about how the development sector can combine with the hospitality sector to build their way out of any economic challenges that are ahead.
