Event Information:

How do you get and keep people and communities engaged and involvement in development projects?

In this webinar we’ll look at best practice in engaging communities and stakeholders in your projects – showing how they can help communicate your project to the right people, in the right way.

Our event partner, Studio 24, has some exceptional examples of this in the form of interactive maps – showcasing routes, timelines and finds from archaeological digs. They’ll be sharing details on the technology and how information can be presented that makes the experiences one of fun and exploration for the user, whilst other high-level organisations will share their approach on large-scale development schemes.

Speakers for this event include:

  • Studio 24 – Claire’s project management style is to put relationships at the heart of project delivery. In her 3 years at Studio 24, she has worked with a broad range of clients, on a diverse number of projects. These include new corporate websites for HS2 and Heathrow consultation and legacy site maintenance and upgrades for Crossrail.
  • Crossrail – A Civil Engineer, Transport Planner and Communications professional, he worked on the original 1990s Crossrail scheme for London Underground and in 2000 was seconded from TfL to Cross London Rail Links to work on developing the project and securing powers.  He led the Consultation team which became the Petitions Negotiation team during the Bill process.  During the construction phase Simon has been responsible for managing the project’s relationships with all of those stakeholders directly impacted by Crossrail works; overseeing contractors’ community relations activity, the 24 hour public helpdesk and communications with passengers, local authorities, residents and businesses. In 2015, Simon was appointed Head of Learning Legacy leading the team responsible for the collation and dissemination of good practice, innovation and lessons learned from the Crossrail construction programme aimed at raising the bar in industry and showcasing UK PLC.
  • Urban Growth Company – are fundamental to creating a new contemporary district in the West Midlands and are a vital partner in developing Solihull ready for the arrival of HS2. Aside from a complex project to deliver physically, the organisation has been actively engaging with regional communities to shape the future of the region while also doing their best to extol the benefits of such large scale regeneration. On this session Claire will talk about the key ingredients she has employed in communicating the vision and will deliver some learnings from her role so far.
  • Costain Group – James York is the Group Corporate Responsibility and Security Director for the smart infrastructure solutions firm Costain. James’ stakeholder and community management includes working on projects such as the expansion of Felixstowe port, the construction of a new waster water treatment works and sewer infrastructure for Southern Water and Crossrail. Each of these projects presented unique challenges and have helped shape James’ experience and expertise in engaging stakeholders. In his current role, James is responsible for the Costain community relations team and will talk about some of the innovative digital solutions employed by his team across the UK.
