Event Information:

The purpose of this webinar is to bring into focus on the role the built environment must play to bring forward clean energy generation projects to help abate the climate emergency.

Whether it be solar, wind, tidal or nuclear power, billions are being spent by investors, developers, and power providers to change the way regeneration is supported. This webinar brings together project leads who are behind some of the most exciting energy-related capital projects to share details of their schemes, the impact they will have on supporting development ambitions across the UK.

Speakers for this event include:

  • National Grid – the firm is utilising development funding to finance a portfolio of net zero projects. One major project is exploring a hydrogen ‘backbone’ which aims to connect industrial clusters around the country with the potential to create a 2,000km hydrogen network for the UK by approx 2030. We’ll hear about the sustainable energy plans and how firms can get involved.
  • Legal & General Investment Management – the investment arm of L&G is focused heavily on creating a better future via responsible investment – and sustainability plays a key role in this. In addition to investment into city and towns they’re also focused on the energy sector – from wind and solar farms to EV batteries they’re working on a number of projects to create a more sustainable future. Marija Simpraga joins us to discuss several major projects and how they can contribute to a net-zero built environment.
  • The Scottish Government – the Government is committed to number large scale sustainable energy projects including onshore wind which is the lowest-cost new-build electricity generation in the UK. In 2020 around 97% of Scotland’s energy consumption was met by clean power and the Scottish Government will join us to discuss how they’ve achieved this, whilst discussing how they’re expanding negotiations to speak with developers moving forward.
