The Government has committed to unprecedented spend on developing the UK’s infrastructure unlocking new economic corridors across the UK and providing much needed connectivity for so many of the UK’s regions but how do we measure the impact on the UK’s economy?  We will hear from some of the leading UK’s infrastructure providers as to how their model works and the return that they can see on their investment and we will also hear from those that will benefit from the investment ie: Councils and developers whose schemes become viable once this new network is in place.

Speakers for this event include:

  • Network Rail – Paul will represent Network Rail at this webinar and is responsible for investment in the Eastern region. He will talk about their current schemes and where they plan to invest in the future and their rationale behind future schemes unlocking economic growth.
  • Highways England – Adam is Director of Future Road Investment Strategies at Highways England. He is responsible for producing the evidence and plans to support Highways England’s programme of work for our motorways and A-roads for 2020-2025 (Road Period 2). This includes Highways England’s Strategic Road Network (SRN) Initial Report, Strategic Business Plan and Delivery Plan, as well as other evidence and advice to government. Adam is also leading Highways England’s work to prepare for Road Period 3 (2025-2030). Adam has been a senior leader in public sector transport for over 15 years.
  • Scottish Canals – responsible for some of Scotland’s most important waterways and the ongoing development programme attached to them, Catherine will talk about how the canal system acts as an enabler for development including looking at some of the future projects her estates and property team will be launching
  • AECOM – Andy is a Senior Director who leads AECOM’s award-winning Economic Development team. He has 28 years’ experience in providing economic advice on the dynamics and accelerators of growth in local, city and regional economies. Andy was the Project Director for AECOM’s economic and development impact for the proposed Crossrail 2 project and for the proposed Sutton Link (tram/BRT). He leads AECOM’s due diligence appraisal of business cases for clients including Solent LEP, Enterprise M3 LEP and Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP and has reviewed more than 100 business cases over the last five years. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Economic Development.
